Indirect questions
We use indirect questions when we want to make more polite
questions. They have an opening phrase before the main question. For yes/no
questions use if/whether after the opening phrases.

Reporting Questions
When we report what people say, we usually change the tense
of the verbs to reflect that we are reporting - not giving direct speech. With
yes/no question we use if/whether.
